Sending off babies

This fall I am sending my youngest off to college and I am sending off sculptures to new homes. With both a little piece of my heart will stay with them as they move onto their new life stage. With both doing the job successfully means parting and stepping back with pride. I was fortunate to get to meet the new owners of each sculpture this week and they are so excited to welcome them into their homes. Cheers to a good life and loving home!

Honeycomb delivered to its new home today. Botanical Fantasies will go to its new home after the MN State Fair ends.

Color Me Crazy

It has been so long since I have been into the hotshop or had an exhibit. I recently purchased equipment with my MN State Arts Board grant so I can get back in the hotshop and this month I am part of an exhibit with pieces I already have made at Vandalia Glassworks in South St Paul.

The show is called Color Me Crazy! And I can’t think of a better title for an exhibit of my work. With my colorful patterned beadwork and brightly patterned blown bases, this show was made for me!

In the area? Stop by to see socially distanced glass blowing demos from several artists and a chance to chat in person, masked of course. Saturday April 24 Noon-5pm

Glass Creation Video

Sharing this video at my opening reception to help people understand a little more about how flame worked glass beads and blown glass are created.  The video shows clips of me making beads, adding a color bit, doing a bit wrap, raking glass to create a feathered effect, and hand drawing on glass.  Additionally photos of finished pieces show how the work turns out in the end.
